We survived the 1st week.....

We made it through the 1st week of school! YEAH! It ended with a large roof leak in my classroom Friday morning but other than that it was great! My room is still super crowded with 23 kids but we are making it. I have great kids and parents this year.

Landri is also enjoying the year! She loves to see all her friends and teachers every day. This next week we are starting dance and then soccer. Another mom from Landri's class and I are going to coach the 3-4 year old soccer team. That should be interesting and entertaining too!

We are planning for a family get-together for Labor Day Weekend in Sherman! YEAH!

In the last picture Landri is holding her famous yo-yo! She has been earning stickers for being good, going to sleep by herself in her own bed, and helping out at home. She filled up the chart this week and for her prize she wanted a yo-yo! So of course, Mams and Granddad mailed her one! She thought it was the greatest thing. She can't yo-yo but it also makes a great leash for stuffed animals! She is working on another chart now but hasn't decided on a prize just yet! =)

Well Landri and I made it through the first day of the school year! It was busy but great! I have 23 kids in my class! It makes for a full room!

Landri has about 12 kids in her class. Her teachers are Tiffany and Amber again so she is thrilled! She was ready to go and see her friends. It is hard to believe that in just 2 short years I will be posting about her first day of kindergarten! She will think she owns the place by then! Here are som pics from this morning....The outfit was super cute and had a great bow to match from Christen at http://www.ticklemepinkbowtique.com/. I hope that everyone else enjoyed their first days of schoool too!

'Twas the Night Before the First Day of School

Well tomorrow is a big day for lots of teachers, parents, and kids I know.......the first day of school! Some will be going to Kindergarten, others are starting high school, some are starting their own classrooms as teachers, and yet others will be dropping off their kids for a break! I will beginning my 7th year teaching tomorrow. That hardly seems possible! I am returning to a school I love....Eagle Heights Elementary. I love that we have a "new" building, I love the people I work with, I love the parents I know (and the ones I will meet this year), I love the principal that will come tomorrow even though she has many other things going on in her life, I love the asst. principal who has worked so hard to hold everything together, I love our secretary who deals with all the paperwork but MOST of all I love all the smiling faces I am going to see tomorrow! That makes it all worth it! I can't wait to see how my former students have grown and changed over the summer! I also can't wait to meet the faces of the kids I am going to have this year! As of tomorrow, they are mine until May! What an exciting time!

Just like Christmas Eve, it is hard for me to go to sleep tonight! There will be so much excitement in the morning! So I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Last Minute Summer Projects.....

I realized at the beginning of August that we hadn't done any "summer" projects around our house! So of course, I thought of a couple to do. I have really wanted to do some painting around the house. We painted the entire downstairs last summer so we moved upstairs this year. I started in Landri's bathroom. I wanted it to be bright to match the other stuff that was already in there.....Well, bright it is! But I think the yellow looks great and very cheery! =) Next room, our bathroom.....we used the leftovers from downstairs to do it. The colors is latte. It made it feel cozy! Last room, our bedroom. We used a darker version that coordinates with latte. You can't tell much of a difference in the picture but our bedroom is darker. Really like it too! We just need to get some different window coverings. The ones up now are brown and we need a different color with the walls.......Ryan did most of the taping and getting things ready....I painted just about all of Landri's and our bathroom. Ryan painted our bedroom. So it was a joint effort!

Here are some things we want to do in the next few months.......
* cover the back patio
* tile the upstairs bathrooms
* put hardwood floors in the family and dining rooms

Since school starts tomorrow I have sure it will be a long time before we do anything else! Look for pictures of my finished classroom and 1st day of school pics later this week! Have a great one!

Fun in San Antonio

Landri and I took a last vacation to San Antonio for 4 nights! We had a great time! We got into town on Wednesday and went to visit mom and dad at their offices. They really enjoyed showing off Landri to everyone! We went out to eat that night of course. On Thursday, Mom, Mark, Landri, and I went shopping for some school clothes. We enjoyed staying up late and watching tv together. Friday was a nice relaxing day with shopping again. On Saturday, Mom, Landri, and I went to the Magik Theatre in downtown to see If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. It was a great show and Landri LOVED it! Then we met Dad and Mark to eat on the Riverwalk and then took Landri on the river boat.....It is a long joke with Landri about riding the boats....She always says NO! Well not Saturday....She wanted to ride the boat! So we did! It was fun but hot! So we all went home and just layed around rest of the night. We slept in this morning and then headed home. It was a great way to end our summer vacation!

I brought Mark home with me to help me move all the stuff back into my classroom! We will start that bright and early on Monday morning!

Visiting Grandmary....

Landri and I went to visit Grandmary this past weekend. Of course we had a great time as always! Grandmary and I (yes it's true) did some sewing! I have seat sacks for my kids each year in my class. Jennifer and I are lucky enough to have grandmothers who love to help us out with the sewing! Jennifer's Nana monograms them for us! This year we used red and blue fabric and they turned out really cute! Other than sewing, we didn't do much at all! We went to church on Sunday and then took Grandmary out to eat at Cheddar's! We love her so!

We (just Landri and me) are headed to San Antonio later this week! One last trip before school starts.....where did the summer go? Mark is going to come home with us and help me move everything back into my classroom next week! YEAH! And Grandmary is coming to keep Landri! We are so lucky to have family that LOVES to help us out! We wouldn't make it without them!
